Carotid Doppler Ultrasound

An ultrasound scan is used to assess the arteries in the neck that supply the brain with blood (carotid arteries) for disease that can cause blockage of blood flow to the brain and in turn cause Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) and stroke.


AORTA ANEURYSM SCREENING (AAA)/SURVEILLANCE

An ultrasound scan is used on the abdominal aorta to assess for an aneurysm or if there is a known aneurysm the size can be followed up.


DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS (DVT)

An ultrasound scan of the deep veins of the legs (in most cases)  is used to check for DVT.  This is a region of blood clot which may cause further medical complications if not detected as soon as possible.
